Earlier this month, the Central Midwest Carpenters celebrated the annual Indiana & Kentucky apprenticeship graduation ceremony. Friends and family gathered in downtown Indianapolis to proudly watch this year’s graduates cross the stage and officially become journeymen carpenters, millwrights, and floor coverers. The ceremony marked an important milestone, celebrating their hard work and the bright opportunities ahead. In 2020, the unimaginable happened to one of our brothers from Local 171, David Sweeney: he lost his son in a violent home invasion. After this happened, David wanted to pour into his community and build a playground in his son’s honor and memory. Local 171’s MAC committee sprang into action to build and raffle a full swing set to donate proceeds to the park. Carpenters Caring also reached out to make a donation, but the park was still a way from being fully funded and approved by the city. Leer más
